I see no reason why gunpowder, treason..
Should ever be forgot.
Down in the south of England, The Sussex Bonfire Societies hold a series of bonfire festivals from September through to November. They mark Guy Fawkes night and the burning of 17 protestant martyrs in Lewes' High Street 1555 to 1557 during the reign of Mary Tudor.
Over the course of 146 years, over 300 martyrs were burnt at the stake for heresy against the catholic faith.
(Thank you wikipedia.)
And i think most people know the history behind Guy Fawkes Night.
5th November 1605, Guy Fawkes, who was part of the Gunpowder Plot, was found guarding explosives the plotters had placed beneath The House of Lords and arrested. He and 3 other plotters were hung drawn and quatered, but after the 3rd man died, Guy Fawkes managed to jump from the gallows, breaking his neck in the fall and thus, avoiding the latter part of his execution.
So anyway.... The whole point of my post is to share with you our own villages Bonfire Night.
We are super lucky to live where we do for many reasons but Bonfire Night is the one event that really brings the community together. Fundraising through the year and enjoying a joyous and lively evening of a preocession, a bonfire like no other and a huge firework display. People from nearby villages and towns all get together to celebrate and make each year even better than the last!
Here is our night... In pictures...
(Also... before i forget to tell you guys... Joe surprised me with a new camera this week!! Canon 650D.. how freakin' exciting!! So we have been trying to get to grips with it the past day or so, and this was the first time in the dark we had used it!)

An upgrade from last year, fire eaters!
This is my favourite photo of the night.

Baby boy slept through the fireworks in the back carrier!!
The firework display was AMAZING this year, absolutely incredible how a village of just over 1,000 (including surrounding parts) raise enough to put on such a night!!
Bring on 2013!!
I've joined these awesome link ups this week - go check them out!!
